Our Performance Testing group is looking for a new Associate Scientist to join their team.

What does an Associate Scientist do?

The Associate Scientist is an essential member of the laboratory team. They work with the Performance Testing team to conduct in vitro permeation and release testing for topical and transdermal formulations. They also conduct analysis of research projects and results and help develop nonstandard tests. Associate Scientists have the opportunity to collaborate with fellow scientists in study planning, formulation development, analytical, and tissue culture.

Position Summary

Position title: Associate Scientist, Performance Testing

Reports to: Director of Performance Testing

Anticipated Hiring Range: $50,000-$60,000

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform experiments with minimal supervision in line with performance testing such as permeation and penetration studies, release investigations, extractions, stability studies, etc.
  • Prepare test solutions, compounds, or reagents for laboratory personnel to conduct tests.
  • Read and understand study documents and assist with study plan writing and data analysis for experiments related to performance testing.
  • Confer with Scientists and Senior Scientists to conduct analyses of research projects and results.
  • Assist Scientists and Senior Scientists to develop nonstandard tests.
  • Report any amendments or deviations from Study Plans/SOPs to Lead Scientist, PT Lead, and/or Study Manager, as appropriate.
  • Maintain laboratory instruments to ensure proper working order and troubleshoot malfunctions with scientists when needed.
  • Adhere to MedPharm Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidance documents, where applicable.
  • Adhere to MedPharm Health & Safety Policy and OSHA regulations at all times and to ensure the safety of others in any procedures or tasks performed.
  • Promptly record all data using Good Documentation Practices as per MedPharm procedures.
  • Ensure that all documentation, computer data, and records are stored appropriately.
  • Perform any other duties and/or tasks that may be assigned.

Candidate Requirements

Education

  • Bachelors degree with 0-2 years of relevant experience, education may be used in lieu of experience

Experience/Traits/Skills

  • Must have a meticulous approach to work and value scientific integrity.
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Must be able to work well in a fast-paced environment and manage time efficiently
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
