About The Role

We are seeking experienced, results-driven Java Application Developers to join our fast-growing team. For this fully remote role, we're looking for team members who bring at least 5 years of practical/on the job experience with developing, deploying, and maintaining Java applications. Qualified candidates must have full stack development experience, including front end, middle tier and database programming skills and must be able to communicate and collaborate with a team of highly talented technicians as well as the client.

Our Java Developers should have in depth knowledge of Java development and ecosystems and remain up to date on current Java platform major and minor changes, security notices and other related developments. Our Java experts are also expected to know how the agile development process works and how to transition between development and production environments.

We currently have several openings for Java developers including:

  • Full stack developer, with focus on Web API programming skills
  • Full stack developer, with focus on healthcare innovation
  • Full stack developer, with focus on SQL development

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and manage full stack Java-based applications
  • Install, configure and maintain backend Java-based services
  • Provide active engineering and development support to make data securely available to front end applications and external systems
  • Maintain Java expertise as ecosystems evolve
  • Participate in requirements analysis and backlog refinement
  • Collaborate with internal teams to produce high quality Java software
  • Participate in Agile-Scrum ceremonies including Story Point Estimation, Backlog Grooming, Sprint/Release Planning, Reviews, and Retrospectives
  • Write clean, scalable Java and SQL code based on requirements and design
  • Implement automated testing platforms and unit tests
  • Revise, update, refactor and debug code
  • Improve existing software
  • Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Java code
  • Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of the applications
  • Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems
  • Help maintain Java and SQL code quality, organization, and automatization
  • Meet project deadlines and milestones while producing high quality work.
  • Display a superior ability to communicate with co-workers for innovation purposes; clients for quality control and customer satisfaction purposes.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Have a BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related area or equivalent work experience
  • Proficient in Java Development, with a minimum of five (5) years' on the job experience writing Java code
  • Proficient with API Development, specifically web service frameworks like Open API, Swagger
  • Proficient with Spring and Spring Boot
  • Experience with containerization tools Kubernetes and/or Docker
  • Experience developing in Agile teams
  • Experience with FHIR data exchange standard is a plus
  • Experience with Ruby applications
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps concepts is a plus
  • Proficient with source control tools such as Git/Github
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming
  • Proficient in Microsoft SQL/T-SQL, with a minimum of three (3) years' on the job experience writing T-SQL
  • Familiarity with build tools such as Ant or Maven
  • Basic front-end skills for basic HTML-5, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, jQuery
  • Familiarity with concepts of MVC, JDBC, and RESTful APIs
  • Familiarity with Jira
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US government Public Trust clearance
